Four Things to Sort Out First
What Primal Dread Actually Adds
One jungle map, 20 waves, new characters, weapons, items, pets, music and achievements. Here is the full contents list and what it changes about a run.
Mecha or Mutation
Evolution is a single stat you push in two directions. Left reinforces weapons and brings laser-firing mecha dinosaurs. Right copies your items and brings acid-spitting mutants.
Surviving the Jungle Waves
Sinkholes open in the arena floor, predators hide in the undergrowth, and elites arrive earlier than the Abyss map taught you to expect.
Is $3.99 the Right Price
Same price as Abyssal Terrors, roughly a third of the base game. What you get, what is still missing, and who should wait for the console release.

What is Brotato: Primal Dread?
Primal Dread is the second paid expansion for Brotato, the top-down arena roguelite where a potato carries up to six weapons at once and survives waves of aliens. After the abyss of 2024's Abyssal Terrors, the potato surfaces into a hostile prehistoric jungle full of mutated and cyber-enhanced predators.
The headline addition is Evolution, a stat that can be pushed toward Mecha or Mutation. Each path changes both the bonuses you receive and the enemies you face, so a run is partly defined by which direction you lean. The expansion also adds a jungle map with 20 waves, new characters, weapons, items, pets, music tracks and achievements. It launched on PC on November 2, 2026 for $3.99 and requires the base game.

Pick a Path and Get Back in the Jungle
Evolution rewards commitment: a half-pushed Mecha build fights laser dinosaurs without the stats to back it up. Read the two paths, lock one in early, and let the items do the rest.
